Description
Deep mahogany-red with golden orange speckles, twenty to fifty nodding flowers per stem. Exotic and striking, June to August. Up to 150cm tall, a true flower giant.
This is a Martagon lily, the turban lily, with characteristic swept-back petals. Few lilies like shade, but this one does: ideal for woodland gardens. Extremely hardy to zone 3. Lightly scented. At home in any soil type. Plant in groups of three to five. Untouched by deer or rabbits. After a few years they become permanent fixtures that bloom more and more profusely.
The Exotic. Red speckles on mahogany, a perfume from far away.
