Description
Snow-white, sweetly scented flowers on stately stems up to 120cm tall. June to August a true classic. Cultivated for over 3500 years, the oldest gift of garden history.
This is the Madonna lily, named after the symbol of purity in religious art. It grows from large bulbs without a protective skin. Plant it shallowly: just two to three cm of soil on top. Sheltered spot against wind damage. Full sun to half-shade. The strong scent fills your whole garden. Bees love it. It is not hardy in every garden. Sometimes protection is needed, or grow it as an annual.
