Description
Deep purple to almost black with fine white fringes along the edge. They stand upright and dignified in April and May. A fringed tulip that was officially baptized at the Van Gogh Museum Amsterdam. Scented and very suitable as a cut flower.
Fringed tulips have that characteristic fine edge with small teeth. It looks as if the petals were trimmed with tiny scissors. This cultivar is very dark, almost black-purple. That makes the fine white fringes stand out even more. Excellent cut flower: long-lasting in the vase. Plant them in groups or as a contrast to lighter colors. Bee-friendly and butterfly-friendly. Limited availability due to popularity.
