Description
A true wood tulip with graceful yellow petals that stand up nicely. They flower in March and April, low and elegant, nodding in the bud. This is the only wild tulip that has naturalized in the Netherlands.
Tulipa sylvestris spreads on its own through underground runners. Once planted, they return year after year. Scented and fond of full sun. With good light and dry enough soil, they form dense drifts. Plant them deeper than cultivated tulips and close together. Aim for about a hundred bulbs per square meter. Perfect for naturalistic gardens and as small bunches.
