Description
A pointed, purple tulip that looks like a star. The petals bend outward, graceful and irresistible. April, May.
Sarah Raven is named after the British garden writer of the same name. She has an eye for colour in the border. The tulip itself belongs to the Lilyflowering group. In that group petals point sharply outward. The shape looks deliberately designed. Height 45 to 60 centimetres, a good cut flower therefore. Purple is not easy in gardens, but here it works. Scented, which is normal for Lilyflowerings. Good for pots. It pairs well with orange and warm yellow tones, Sarah Raven said herself. Short-lived as a perennial: treat it as a seasonal flower.
