Description
Flamed and striped tulips in many colors: red, yellow, purple, white in various combinations. This is the tulip that once caused tulip mania and is now safely bred.
Rembrandt tulips owe their name to the flamed, striped tulips of the seventeenth century. Back then they arose from a virus, uncontrollable and expensive. Those tulips caused the famous tulip mania, a speculation craze that ended in financial collapse. Now the stripes are safely imitated in modern breeding, without virus. The height ranges from 50 to 65 centimeters. Fragrant. This mix of striped and flamed forms offers much variety: no two flowers are identical. Plant in full sun or half shade, in well-draining soil. Beautiful in large groups, because the color variation gives a spontaneous, artistic effect. Like in a painting. Bee-friendly. Excellent cut flower. Low-maintenance. A flower with history.
