Description
Flaming red, compact above the foliage. But the best part might be the foliage itself. Spotted and striped in purple-brown. You see it growing for months before the flower opens.
Red Riding Hood is known as Roodkapje in Dutch. It is a Greigii tulip with bright red flowers at just 25 centimeters tall. But what really makes this tulip special is the foliage: strikingly purple-striped and speckled. Decorative to look at even before the flower appears. Compact, sturdy stems. Fragrant. Plant in full sun or half shade, in well-draining soil. Perfect for front borders, rock gardens and pots on terraces. RHS Award of Garden Merit. Fully winter-hardy, low-maintenance. Not suitable for cutting (too compact), but perfect for all other uses. Bee-friendly, butterfly-friendly. With this tulip you can follow your front garden for months.
