Description

Cardinal red with golden base. This is one of the very first tulips to bloom, with large, long-lasting flowers. This is real emperor tulip grandeur.

Red Emperor is also known as Madame Lefeber. It is a Fosteriana, a true Emperor tulip. This group owes its name to its strikingly large, early flowers. They open early in spring, in March and April. The color is flaming cardinal red. The heart is black with a golden edge, visible as soon as the flower opens. Height up to 45 centimeters, sturdy stem. Lightly fragrant, and appreciated for it. Attracts bees and butterflies. Plant in full sun or half shade, in well-draining soil. Excellent cut flower. Long stems, large flowers, long-lasting. Bee-friendly, butterfly-friendly. Low-maintenance. This is one of the proven classics that remains beloved for years.

The Imperial. Large, early, uncontested.

The bulbs come from the Dutch bulb fields. Hand selected for quality and size, and delivered at the right planting time. A larger bulb holds more food, and you see that in the flower: more blooms, and fuller.

We offer our 100% Bloeigarantie. If nothing comes up, send us a message. You will get new bulbs, or your money back.

Questions about this tulip.

Plant this tulip in Jan, Sep, Oct, Nov, Dec. As long as the ground is not frozen, there is still time.
Rule of thumb: plant a bulb two to three times as deep as the bulb is tall. The exact depth and spacing for this variety are on the planting card attached to the bag and in the planting guide we send along.
Fully grown, this tulip reaches about 30-45 cm. Useful to know for the order in your border: low at the front, tall at the back.

Cool, dry and dark, in the opened bag so they can breathe. Do plant them as soon as possible, because bulbs are not a storage product.
