Description
Bright red in a very special form. The petals curve inward, making the flower look like a crown. This is a Crown or Coronet tulip, a group only officially recognized since 2018.
Red Dress belongs to the young Crown (Coronet) group. That is the sixteenth and newest of all tulip groups. The curved petals make the form unique. You see no typical tulip shape. Rather something like a crown or a dish curving inward. Bright red, fragrant. Height around 40 centimeters. Plant in full sun or half shade, in well-draining soil. The special feature: this group blooms longer than most tulips. They start in mid-spring and keep flowering late into the season. Bees and butterflies feel drawn to it. Excellent cut flower. Low-maintenance. Because crown tulips are still rare, supply is limited, but they are growing in popularity.
