Description
Deep violet-burgundy red, like a full-bodied red wine. This lily-flowered tulip has pointed, outward-curving petals that make her elegant and graceful. She grows to 60 centimetres on sturdy stems and blooms in April and May.
Merlot is named after the famous red grape. The name matches the deep wine-red colour exactly. She's lily-flowered, so not the normal classic form, but rather open and artistic. Plant her en masse along paths or in large blocks. She's stunning in modern cut arrangements, especially with acid-green and purple. Pair in the border with warm reds and chestnut-brown for tone-on-tone. Or go for contrast with orange, yellow, green and white.
