Description
This Darwin hybrid surprises. Other Darwin hybrids shout in bright red or yellow. She hums softly in lavender-purple with a hint of almost-blue. The stems are deep purple, which beautifully sets off the soft flower colour. She grows around 60 centimetres.
Darwin hybrids originated in 1943 when breeders crossed wild types for strong, long stems. That succeeded. Light and Dreamy is an unexpected spin on that theme. Sturdy and strong, but in soft tones. Perfect as relief from lots of bright tulip colour. Use her in pastel combinations with white, other purples or soft green. She blooms from April through May and works well in a vase. Especially in soft spring bouquets with supporting greenery.
