Description
Kaufmanniana tulips are called water lily tulips. In the sun they open wide, just like a water lily. Red with yellow. Johan Strauss blooms very early, March and April. Named after the composer of the famous waltzes.
A small tulip, fifteen to twenty-five centimetres. Red and yellow, classic colour combination. Plant shallower than other tulips. Eight centimetres is enough. They do not spread on their own. Top up the group after a few years. For border edges, rock gardens, pots. That early bloom is a blessing. They are done while the rest of your garden wakes up. Very low maintenance. Cut flower not really, but the shape is very special. Opening and closing with the sun.
