Description
In March, April, and May, Exotic Emperor appears early as a double, scented flower. Cream white with subtle green and yellow flames, 35 to 45 centimeters tall. This is a Fosteriana tulip that looks double.
Exotic Emperor is a sport (spontaneous mutation) of the well-known sturdy garden tulip 'Purissima'. That pedigree gives her strength and early blooming. Fosteriana tulips bloom early and have large flowers on strong stems. This is one of two groups most likely to return in your garden. Year after year. She is scented with a sweet, refined fragrance. Many petals mean they last very long: individual flowers reported up to six weeks. Plant in full sun. Very strong in a vase too.
