Description
In April and May, Estella Rijnveld undulates open in a very large, deeply fringed flower. Flaming red-white with occasional green streaks. She grows 45 to 55 centimeters tall and is a parrot tulip: you cannot look away.
Parrot tulips owe their name to feather-plumage-like flowers with curled, fringed petals. Estella Rijnveld is very large and theatrical. That green flame that occasionally appears is part of her generous character. They bloom late in the season. Plant her among quieter tulips. That way she doesn't compete with other show-offs. They are not scented but visually spectacular. Beautiful as a solo or in odd groups of three.
