Description
March to May: purple to lilac flowers with elegantly recurved petals. A small bloom, 15 to 30 centimetres tall, showing its character in half-shade under trees. Not common.
Erythronium 'Purple King' flowers in purple. It loves half-shade on humus-rich soil under trees. The foliage is marbled. Ornamental outside the flowering season too. It naturalises slowly: patience is required. Hardy. Rodents dislike erythronium, so no risk there. No haste, no fuss, a specialised bloom.
