Description
March through May: sulfur-yellow flowers with elegantly recurved petals, like tiny lanterns. Up to ten flowers per stem. Unusual for erythronium: sheer abundance of bloom.
Erythronium 'Pagoda' is a true prolific bloomer. Up to ten flowers per stem. Growing to 25 to 35 centimeters. The foliage is marbled, green, and striking. Excellent for cutting. Plant in half-shade under trees where it is most comfortable, on humus-rich soil. Naturalizes slowly into broader patches. Patience required, but after years the effect is lovely. Hardy and reliable. Bees and butterflies love it. Mice leave erythronium alone, so there is no risk.
