Description
Loose, star-shaped purple flower clusters. They look far more playful than the tight round globes of other alliums. May to July, stems around 80 to 90 centimetres.
Purple Rain breaks the allium stereotype of perfect round globes. Instead: loose clusters of purple stars pointing playfully every way. That gives movement, airiness and a more natural look. Exactly what a modern border asks for. Attracts plenty of bees and butterflies, lasts for months. Plant in full sun on well-draining soil. Perfect cut flower, and if you leave it, it dries beautifully. An allium for those who want something other than standard round.
