Size and height
Grows to about 10 - 15 cm tall. The very first sign of life, sometimes opening its white bells right through the snow.
Double snowdrop: instead of one bell you get a full flower. Inside are layers of petals. January through March, even through snow. Subtle and classic; a collector's item.
Officially Galanthus nivalis f. pleniflorus 'Flore Pleno'. Fuller than the single snowdrop, and thus stays visible longer. Half shade to full shade; any soil; fully hardy and reliable. The only caveat: this double form is sterile. It multiplies more slowly than the single type, through small offsets. So your naturalization cycle is longer. Still lovely to have; scented; bees are fine with it.
The Double. Full flower with layers, sets no seed so naturalizes slowly.

Still in deep winter the white bells are already standing, often before anything else dares.

Under trees and shrubs it slowly forms thick white carpets that spread by themselves.
