Description
A more compact allium with intensely deep-red densely-packed globes. Nectar-rich: specifically recommended for those interested in wildlife. May to July, stems around 70 to 90 centimetres.
Ostara grows more compact than many other purple alliums, but that makes it stronger. Those densely-packed deep-red globes are nectar-rich. An explicit recommendation for anyone wanting bees. Short, sturdy stem: that makes it extra strong and long-lasting as a cut flower. You need few stems for impact. This carries the momentum from spring into early summer. That is what alliums do well: they fill gaps. Low-maintenance, fully hardy, returns year after year.
