Description
Dwarf allium with striking intense pink flowers on stems of just 10 to 20 centimetres. Generous with bloom. A real eye-catcher at the back of a rock garden. Or at the front of a border.
Allium oreophilum means literally "mountain-loving". This low grower indeed comes from the mountains of Central Asia and the Caucasus. Strikingly intense pink flowers, dwarf format, generous flowering. Sun-lover, undemanding, tolerates poor soil easily. Ideal for rock gardens where space is tight. Plant in groups so the pink colour shows best. Not suitable as a cut flower, being too small and delicate. But as a jewel in a gravel bed it is indispensable.
