Description
Large-flowered hybrid with substantial purple globes on tall stems of 80 to 100 centimetres. Like all alliums: deer-resistant and rodent-resistant. A strong character for those who like to see them.
Lucy Ball is one of the more imposing cultivars. Large, densely-packed purple globes on sturdy stems. Around 80 to 100 centimetres, visible from across the garden. Heartily bee-friendly and butterfly-friendly. And crucially: deer and rodents leave it alone, thanks to the onion-scent. Perfect as a cut flower, with good vase life. Plant it at the back where it gives height and has room. After flowering the seed heads remain beautiful for a long time.
