Description
March to May: pure bright yellow, long blooming. Candela stands mid-height, thirty-five to forty-five centimetres. This is a Fosteriana tulip. Large, strong flowers on sturdy stems, blooming early to late.
Fosterianas are growers: they feel more mature than early tulips, less frivolous than doubles. Candela soaks up plenty of sun and smells pleasant. Plant them in large groups of seven or more. One or two disappear in a border. They love full sun and well-drained soil. The height makes them perfect for mid-borders, not front-row and not way back. A cut flower? Yes, fine. Long blooming means lasting well in the vase. They do not naturalize, so you are master of your color choices each year.
