Description
Velvet purple to nearly black, double full peony bloom. May, almost the last tulip of the season. Scented, long-lasting cut flower. "Olive black", as the colour is also called.
Black Hero is the double partner of the famous dark Queen of Night. As a double late tulip, she carries many more petals. Double layers of velvet purple-black, from dark chestnut/mahogany to nearly black. The last tulip of the season. Blooms when almost everything else has faded. Scented. 40 to 50 centimetres, relatively tall for a double late. Honest downside: the well-filled bloom takes time to open. But then she blooms for weeks. Great cut flower. Pair with Muscari armeniacum, Spring Green or Camassia leichtlinii 'Blauwe Donau'.
