Bright Gem is a botanical tulip from Central Asia, small but persistent. Colour shift: opens buttercup or creamy yellow with apricot glow, ripens to bronzy tint. 15 to 25 centimetres, small and sturdy. Naturalizes excellently. Needs no digging, needs no fussing. Sunny spot. Wind and weather proof (typical botanical). Blooms from March to May. If you do dig, wait until June, when the foliage has died back. Plant in October or November. Scented. Great in pots and rock gardens. Bees and butterflies adore her.
