Description
Bright orange-scarlet flames, lily-flowered form with curved-back pointed petals. Late blooming and scented. One of the few truly scented tulips. May, 45 to 55 centimetres.
Ballerina is a much-loved lily-flowered tulip. You recognize her by the elegant, dancing form with curved-back pointed petals. Bright orange-scarlet, sometimes with pink blush at the base. Scented. An unusual plus for lily-flowered tulips. Late-blooming, so she extends the season into May. 45 to 55 centimetres, long stems, great cut flower. Honest downside: slender stems can blow in strong wind. Plant in generous drifts (one or two loose specimens do nothing). Plant in full sun to part shade, good drainage. Scented and loved by bees and butterflies.
