Description
Crimson red with golden-yellow edge. May, 50 to 60 centimetres, large bloom on an unwavering stem. Lightly scented, with a hint of vanilla. Like an old master giving his best cultivar to the next generation.
Apeldoorn Elite descends from the original Apeldoorn, introduced in 1951 by D. W. Lefeber and grown into one of the most popular Darwin Hybrids. This red-yellow variant is among the strongest tulips in the assortment. Tall, strong stems carry large blooms easily. Ideal for mass planting, in groups or borders. A good repeater and good at naturalizing. Scented. Unusual for Darwin Hybrids. Excellent cut flower. Plant in full sun to part shade, good drainage.
