Description
Yellow with red rim that seeps like fire through the petals as the flower ages. May, large blooms, classic Darwin Hybrid size. The rim keeps changing colour.
American Dream is a deeper variant of the better-known 'Daydream'. Same Darwin Hybrid line, same stem strength, but deeper tones. Opens soft butter-yellow with a narrow red edge, ends sunny yellow with tomato-red. The red bleeds further into the yellow petals as it ripens. Differently on each petal. 50 to 60 centimetres, large flower, strong stem. Blooms April to May. Plant them in masses. One or two loose specimens do nothing. A drift of ten or more gives the real effect. Full sun, good drainage. Scented and a cut flower.
