Description
Fringed bloom in nine shades at once: purple, violet, lilac, yellow, orange, pink. No two flowers are alike. May, and every bloom is a surprise.
This is a parrot tulip, named after the fringed, feathery petals. Amazing Parrot shifts colour as it matures. It starts purple-violet-lilac with warm yellow. Then it ripens to dominant orange and pink. No two specimens are marked the same. Large bloom on remarkably strong stems, upright in the garden. 45 to 55 centimetres tall. Scented and a good cut flower. Plant in full sun, well-draining soil. For protection against tulip fire: plant later (November to December) and space generously. Bees and butterflies will come.
