Grows to about 80 - 100 cm tall. The deepest red crown imperial, with caramelised orange-red bells under a green tuft.
April, May: deep orange-red hanging bells beneath a green leaf crown. Stem "as thick as your thumb". 80 to 100 centimeters. An imperial crown that radiates warmth.
The red imperial crown grows to spectacle within weeks, unique growth rate. Good drainage is critical: wet feet rot the large bulb. Plant in sun to half-shade. The distinctive musky fragrance repels deer and rodents. Fragrant, excellent for cutting. Honest caveat: short-lived. After bloom, lift the bulb and store it warm (>20°C). Replant in October to add years of bloom. Plant boldly at the back between other perennials for full impact.
The Firemaker. Orange-red that fades faster than its impression.
Hand selected for quality and size, and delivered at the right planting time. A larger bulb holds more food. You see that in the flower: more blooms, and fuller.
We offer our 100% Bloeigarantie. If nothing comes up, send us a message. You will get new bulbs, or your money back.

The deepest red of all crown imperials, the most dramatic colour of the group, up to well over a metre tall.

With the leaf tuft above the ring of bells the bloom resembles a pineapple; the bulb’s scent deters rodents.
