Description
April, May, even June: pale yellow hanging bells with tiny reddish-brown spots inside. 30 to 40 centimeters. Lesser known, highly elegant. Extends the fritillary season.
Fritillaria pallidiflora is a specialty: supply is scarce, but her elegance justifies patience. Cream-pale yellow bells that look just slightly squared and have fine details. Plant the bulbs 10 to 15 centimeters deep, in good-draining soil, sun to half-shade. Rodents and deer have no interest. Natural defense through the bulb's bitterness. Fragrant, excellent for cutting. This species naturalizes slowly and carefully. Maintenance is minimal once it settles. Pair with delicate perennials.
