Size and height
Grows to about 80 - 100 cm tall. A compact crown imperial with golden orange, red-veined bells under a green leaf tuft.
April, May: cream-colored hanging bells in a crown. A green leaf plume ("pineapple crown") sits above. 80 to 100 centimeters tall. The imperial crown in a subtler tone.
The imperial crown has been a classic ornamental for centuries. The large bulbs grow to spectacular height in just a few weeks. That is a unique growth rate. Good drainage is critical. Wet soil rots the large bulb. Plant in sun to half-shade. Rodents, rabbits, and deer have no interest (the scent repels them). Excellent for cutting, fragrant, naturalizes. Place it boldly at the back or between other stately perennials for full impact. This is architecture, not ornament.
The Empress. Stately without arrogance.
Hand selected for quality and size, and delivered at the right planting time. A larger bulb holds more food. You see that in the flower: more blooms, and fuller.
We offer our 100% Bloeigarantie. If nothing comes up, send us a message. You will get new bulbs, or your money back.
