Description
June through September: pink funnel-shaped flowers on elegantly curved spires. One of the world's most fragrant cut flowers. Fresh, peppery, lightly citrusy. 30 to 45 centimeters tall.
Freesia is not winter-hardy. This is a summer bloomer you plant in March-April and harvest in June-September. The pink form is refinement. Wants full sun, sheltered spot, good drainage. Top-tier cutting flower with long vase life. Stems may need discreet staking. The real argument is fragrance: freesia is a fragrance flower. Flowers open step-by-step along the curved spire, giving prolonged cutting pleasure.
