Description
Deep vermillion red with fringed petal edges. May, 45 to 55 centimetres, sweetly scented. An unusual plus for fringed tulips. Cut flower.
Barbados is a fringed tulip, recognized by the fine fringed edges on the petals. As if frost has settled on the bloom. Deep vermillion red, strong grower with sturdy stems. Unusual: sweetly scented. Fringed tulips normally aren't. Blooms for several weeks. KAVB division 7. Plant in full sun to part shade, good drainage. Good cut flower. Combine with yellow or white for contrast. For harmony use pink or cream, and tone-on-tone use orange or purple.
