Description
Climber to two meters, with flaming red-yellow flowers. The petals curl as they ripen. July or August, and your trellis becomes a work of art. This is for those who want drama to grow.
From East Africa; national flower of Zimbabwe. Not hardy. Plant in May after frost has passed, dig up in October before frost returns. Full sun; well-draining; needs climbing support: rope, obelisk, wall. Summer bloomer; after flowering the plant retreats. Note: the entire plant is toxic; wear gloves when handling bulbs and sap. Bees and butterflies find it attractive. Good as a cut flower. Perfect for a pot on the terrace.
