Description
In May and June, pure white flower spires shoot upright on straight stems. 70 to 100 centimeters tall, as elegant as its blue cousin, only white. A flower that brings calm to the busy spring display.
White camassia loves moist soil, even clay, and tolerates sun through half-shade. Star-shaped florets open step by step from base to tip. That gives a long bloom window. Bees and butterflies seek it out, and it is excellent for cutting. Plant alone or in groups of three to five. Then let it naturalize. It grows stronger each year without lifting. Perfect in borders where perennials are still filling in. Lovely too at the edge of ditches and wet spots.
