Description
In early spring the white spathe appears, like a small altar set among marbled foliage. Later, green berries ripen to burnished orange through summer. A plant that shows you two entirely different faces in one season.
Italian arum grows steadily into a full patch. It reaches 30 to 40 centimeters tall. It is at its best under trees or in border shade. The glossy veined foliage remains elegant even after the flower fades. Pair it with tulips and allium for added structure. The berries attract birds. They are toxic to humans, so keep it away from where children play. Perfect groundcover for damp, shaded corners.
